Effective Student Data Management in Schools

Education is the bread that feeds the mind of man. It is therefore very important that records of a student's progress in an institution are properly managed to enable administrators and significant others obtain legally information about the student. Unfortunately, many schools in Ghana do not manage their data efficiently and reliably. It is my believe that the use of ICT's can greatly reduce the burden of school administrators in managing their database. Unfortunately there problems with the use ICT's in Education. Some of the problems in Ghana are:
1. Administrators are not aware of software tools or packages.
2. Literacy in the use of ICT tools are low or non-existent even when people are aware of the tools.
3. Commitment by School Management Committees and Boards to provide an enabling environment for change is low. Frankly, some board members are not up to date in terms of educational technology.
4. Most schools are unwilling to seek the services of professional educational consultants.

I believe that with you, we can break many of the above listed barriers. Please speak your mind on how we can do that.

I need all of "us"

No man is an island that is we are communal beings. The success of an individual is therefore not felt if the community does not benefit. Let's help develop our community Ghana and Africa. It is the only way to make generations to come proud about US.

OMANBA

Takes committed folk to make things happen

I think i will go by your third point regarding comittment to the cause of the issue at stake. In the past certain snail paced and archaic practises were tolerable but in this day and age there is no excuse for institutions not to upgrade themselves and embrace modern techniques to enable better working practices.

I can just hear board members use your first two points as excuses. Well the answer to that is: '' where there is a will, there is a way'' and enough of the diversion of the PTA dues into board of governers pockets. Use the money and some of the leftover bursary to train staff and get the equipment. When institutions have good intentions, oftentimes philanthropists can single handedly or collectively support their good causes. We are set in our old ways, thats what.

THE CRINGE FACTOR! WHAT MAKES YOU THINK THAT GOD MADE THREE WORLDS AND THAT I COME FROM THE THIRD WORLD. THE ISSUE OF RACE IS GEOGRAPHICAL AND NOT A STATUS SYMBOL AND NEITHER IS MY SKIN BLACK NOR YOURS WHITE.
