NB: Edited post
Thanks gemdexter.I'm really happy to be part of what GhanaThink and GhanaConscious stand for.Would we see a difference in the future of Ghana? I believe together we are more than capable of causing a change,a real change.
Thanks once again.
YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO MUCH TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE FUTURE OF GHANA.REMEMBER WHAT NEIL ARMSTRONG SAID WHEN HE LANDED ON THE MOON "ONE SMALL STEP FOR MAN,ONE GAINT LEAP FOR MANKIND".SMALL STEPS=GAINT LEAP
hey, how come i didn't get any acknowledgement when i joined? huh???
Just an idea i have had that perhaps now that we are morphing towards new things on here, its high time the whole fleet is called to join the force so we get a good representation of what this site is about and lots of people for decision making. So, how about a nice AKWAABA to all NEW MEMBERS (please get involved and fraternise) and emails to old members on the list to report for duty. See, so far only a handful of us are keeping the torch alight and it doesn't represent the broader spectrum.
THE CRINGE FACTOR! WHAT MAKES YOU THINK THAT GOD MADE THREE WORLDS AND THAT I COME FROM THE THIRD WORLD. THE ISSUE OF RACE IS GEOGRAPHICAL AND NOT A STATUS SYMBOL AND NEITHER IS MY SKIN BLACK NOR YOURS WHITE.
This is particularly directed at the TOP HIERACHY of this site. Take my advice; this site is got potential but your downside is MEMBER PARTICIPATION. Each week, you can count no less than 4 to five new members, but when it comes to posts its the same old tortoise pace and same old participants. This will get us nowhere in terms of new projects.
There is a minor sense of isolation here when one joins because interaction is often not in real time and that can put people off or cause them to be just occasional entrants and readers on here instead of a steady flow of traffic. I have suggested a few strategies in the past to heighten member base and this time i think you/we need to focus on heightening member interaction. When bonds are formed it brings people back more often and increases participation on forums.
I SUGGEST we have a CHAT ROOM!
We already have a social corner here i agree, but it still hasn't got the hanging out factor; just flex it a bit.
This will not change the seriousness of the forums, but it will bring about more closeness between forum members and stop inhibitions by people who think the workings of this forum are a bit on the formidable side.
Anyway, just a little PR advice. Over to you Bosses.
I do agree totally with Omanba. Most of us just visit this site when bored, read whatever is there and go. The entrees, blogs and articles though thought provoking and mind boggling, are very few and do not change for weeks. I therefore think a chat room is a great idea.
A lot of brilliant ideas are posted here every week and I read post of people who are ready to participate in those projects but I wonder if these ideas become a reality at all. I wish there could be less talk but more action. If a few people ar motivated to do something but have no encouragement from the rest of us, those ideas do not bear fruits. A chat room would bring in people more often. with more people on the boat, a lot can be achieved.
The Managing Executive has been following with keen interest the suggestions for setting up a chat room. We appreciate the suggestions for improving activity and community and we are currently discussing the chat room idea.We will keep you updated on our decision.
We are also currently looking for a GhanaConscious Co-Chair. The GhanaConscious chair is responsible for managing the forums and keeping them engaging. This is partly why the forums seem neglected in recent times. If you are interested in applying for the position of GhanaConscious Co-Chair please send your resume and a letter of interest to email@example.com
Keep up the activity!
i think we're on the right track with the newsreader idea. building a community driven platform like the newsreader is the best way to get informed about ghanathink and its project. chatroom is a good idea but it only won't help us maintain a strong user base.

A community driven platform like the Newsreader will not take off let alone maintain its rhythm if the very people who should get involved are not existent or participating. A chatroom is but just one out of many ideas that can help with member participation; it doesn't embody the whole solution but if you ask me i will say that 'every little helps'
One thing we got over other Ghanaian sites is our speciality of tackling the serious issues. But having said that, we are nowhere near the level of member participation, flow of traffic and member loyalty as happens on other sites. This is where we need to strike a balance. A chatroom is a lure/incentive for coming here and a good strategic launch pad for projects.
Its also a nice way of having a guest/notable personality or representative of an organisation on here now and again for an interview; conducted by a moderator with questions from the membership all done in real time.
i agree and so i think the two needs to be considered together - newsreader with a chatroom. setting up a chatroom shouldn't take no more than couple of hours. the newsreader will give us something to talk about in the chatroom and will give people enough reason to continue to visit ghanathink.
shaker for real
Hello everyone,I feel honored to be considered and given the chance to work as the Co-chair of ghanaConscious.I hope to do my best and welcome all suggestions that might help in doing my work.
You're warmly welcome. Your regular visits are highly appreciated
I think members should be emailed regularly with embedded entertaining news where a click on those news brings them to the site.
that's a pretty good feature to consider. any objections?
I believe members should be emailed regularly period. :-)
Concerning the content subscription feature, I think we had that before but I am not sure how effective that is.
We could employ new content notification but that would generate too many emails.
We have been discussing this behind the scenes and I think an update on various ongoing discussions or new blogs would suffice.
I don't seem to enjoy the idea of misleading people into clicking some links expecting to get somewhere and ending up here.
My 3 cedis
Well not necessarily telling them to listen to Kwadee and be deceived into only seeing ghanaConscious. I mean Kwadee on GhanaConscious and to get that you would be required to log in as a member I'm thinking(although I don't know much about web designs) thatif possible our web could have that on one side of it this news/music I'm suggesting and on the other side announcements about whats going on with our organization. We don't necessarily go to certain sites to watch adverts but we end up seeing a lot of advertisement as a result of trying to get what we want. I wasn't necessarily saying we should tell a member to log on to watch/read something and finds nothing but ghanaConscious
I wish you all the best as you prepare for your finals. GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL!!!!
